Real people.
Real results.
We wear flannel. We cite research. We get results. Meet the mediators who help families resolve conflict and move forward.

Ryan
Co-Founder & Mediator
Ryan is a trained restorative mediator who has completed 80+ divorce mediations in the last two years.
He started Flannel People Mediation because he saw too many couples spending tens of thousands of dollars on adversarial legal processes when they wanted to work together.
His philosophy: most divorcing couples don't need the adversarial legal process. They need someone who can facilitate a difficult conversation and help them think clearly about their future.
He works from home near Pigs Eye Lake in Minnesota. He wears hoodies, tends chickens, and dances to the Eurythmics with his daughters in the kitchen.

Kate
Co-Founder & Mediator
Kate is a trained restorative mediator and Rule 114 qualified neutral.
Before mediation, she coached college soccer and mentored young people. That work taught her how families actually function—the patterns that get passed down, the ways people attach (or don't), and how systems either support people or make things harder.
Now she helps families navigate separation and divorce with that lens.
She's also a mom of three, which means she understands the messy reality of parenting through hard transitions.
What Our Clients Say
Don't just take our word for it. Here's what families say about working with us.
"I absolutely recommend Ryan and Flannel People Mediation. He was excellent all the way through. The communication from the first call was prompt and easy going. I feel so lucky to have found Flannel People for divorce mediation. I was a ball of nerves before our virtual mediation session. Ryan's calmness, casual approach, insights, observations, and cohesiveness throughout the session helped us get through a lot of very difficult topics to the point of an agreement."
